Wer nicht losfährt kommt garnicht erst an…

“Those who never set off never arrive…” – the title of my e-book (in German).

A tent, a fully loaded motorcycle and no fixed route: two trips through 24 countries – from the North Cape to Georgia.

Stage 01 — Why I set off

Not to arrive, but to be on the road.

In 2022 I set off from Germany: through Denmark and Sweden, up Norway's west coast and by ferry to the Lofoten Islands, all the way to the North Cape – and back through the Baltic states. Seven months, with a tent and no fixed route.

In 2023 I left again, this time heading south-east: from May to December, right across Europe as far as Georgia. Mostly alone, always on the Tiger. What happened along the way is in the e-book.

Stage 04 — From the book

What to expect from the book

Honest notes from the road: mishaps, encounters and quiet moments – just as they happened along the way.

Excerpts translated from the German original. The e-book itself is in German.

… just to arrive first, and to let it sink in … that I now had time, so much time. Time to ride, to see the north of Europe, and simply to do something different for once.

Just across the Danish border

I couldn't pull the clutch without giving it gas, and on the very first real off-road day of my life. Sometimes adventure is simply waiting right outside your door …

Trans Euro Trail, southern Sweden

So there I sat at the table with a family I hadn't even known two hours earlier. And yet I felt as if I already belonged.

Ulefoss, southern Norway

And then I saw the metal globe I had only ever known from photos. To put it kindly: minimalist and simple. I stood in front of it, and I had reached my goal.

North Cape, Norway

The road ran straight on forever; nobody came the other way, nobody passed. Out here on a motorcycle, your head truly clears.

Northern Finland

When I opened the tent and leaned out a little, I was speechless. Above the sea stretched a perfectly clear, star-filled sky.

Baltic coast, Estonia
Stage 05 — A taste of the book

“Then, not far from me, maybe five or six metres away, I saw an enormous moose with even more enormous antlers! … I didn't move a muscle and held my breath.”
